    I had taken some ibuprofen to help with the everlasting jaw pain from having your mouth stretched open. It is a blood thinner and thus- nosebleeds!

    Despite the pain I ate fairly normal foods. I wanted nothing to do with food for the first 2-3 days, then pretty normal. When the scabs for the tonsillectomy started sloughing off (which I didn’t notice if I didn’t look in the mirror) the throat pain was worse and I had to time my meds and eating so the pain was at a tolerable level. The tonsillectomy was definitely the worst part of the whole thing. I had bad nosebleeds in my third week after surgery but I think this was mostly my fault.

    My doc said I may still need to use my CPAP machine but I can’t stand the stupid thing. So for now I’m happy with how I’m sleeping. VERY happy about no more runny noses and people have stopped asking me if I’m sick constantly.

    It’s been 3 months since surgery. Definitely worth it. It took me a good 3 weeks to heal. The bulk of the pain had passed after 2 weeks but I still was not 100% My pain seemed to come in waves. Just when I thought it was done, I’d get another wave for a few days. I think the part that benefitted me the most was the sinus surgery but its hard to give any one procedure all the credit. I don’t feel super energetic but I do sleep more comfortably and wake up less during the night.

    Now its clear although I don’t know my actual sleep score yet as havn’t done a repeat study. I test it by laying on back, relaxing muscles and breathing, pritty much clear!

    I am tired though, sleep isn’t great, and feeling more tired, I think this might be the sleep debt and body learning new sleep pattern? Any thoughts?

    I did this surgery …
    I did this surgery several weeks ago. UPPP, tonsilectomy, soft palate coblation & base of tongue coblation.

    Hurt for about seven days, could still eat etc but just had to go slow. After seven days pain went. During first seven days just chilled out, watched TV, surfed net, listen to music etc.

    After 5.5 weeks it suddenly worked, I can breath, before this it was swallen so was initially worse, then the same. Very pleased with the results.

    Your quality of life is now better and you did the right thing. I had uppp & tscmy in 1998. My snoring is gone, but I do breath heavy some nights when I’m more fatigued. Both my older brothers have serious health issues. They can level a house together and I’ve seen them both fall asleep in the same room at thanksgiving. It’s funny in a way. But serious. Sleep apnia can shorten your life 15 years or so.

    How’s your recovery coming?

    @jhautotrim Hmmm… …
    @jhautotrim Hmmm….. not sure what just happened, tried to post but it seemed to mess up. I live in Alberta, Canada so my provincial health coverage paid for the surgery. My benefits from work paid for the medications so all it cost me was time.

    I’m actually having the same type surgery in October for the OSA. Please post again in the next week or two to let me know how you are recovering. Did your insurance kick in to pay for the surgery?
